Fighting Cravings?

I'm having a ROUGH week. I'm so stressed out from work that I could just cry. We're really busy & we've been down people, so I just feel like I can't get caught up (I have a feeling hormones may be playing a role in this as well!) Of course, every time I' stressed, I want to eat junk. I did well yesterday & I'm staying on track today, but I have the craziest cravings (NO, I'm not pregnant!).
1. McDonald's
I've always loved fast food. My parents never let us eat fast food except on special occasions BUT when I got my driver's license, I went crazy for fast food. I would eat fast food 4-5 times each week. It's one of the hardest things for me to give up & I pass a Wendy's, McDonald's & Burger King everyday on my to work. However, I have not had fast food since my birthday (February) & I'm trying so hard to resist the terrible cravings. Plus, constantly seeing commercials doesn't help! (I would sell my left arm for McNuggets!)

2. Pierogies
I'm half German & one of my favorite memories growing up was making homemade pierogies with my Grammie! Let's see, dough filled with mashed potatoes & cheese then cooked in a ton of butter! COUNT ME IN. Can we say carb overload? Surprisingly, I eat premade pierogies regulary. They aren't too high in calories and I use spray butter with no calories.
3. Chocolate Milkshakes
This is hands down my guilty pleasure! It's a big no-no because I'm lactose intolerant but man, do I love them! You have to mix 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream with 2 scoops chocolate ice cream & 1 1/2 cups of milk. Then, smother in whipped cream. OH MY GAWD.. I'm drooling!
*These are what I'm craving like crazy right now. But, I will resist temptation (if I can resist McDonald's I can do ANYTHING!)

  1. Mc Donald's is what I mostly crave, I'm almost sure I'm addicted to it haha. I try SO SO hard to keep away though.

    I'm not pregnant either but I have the weirdest cravings and I crave something alllmost every day!

  3. Aww I so understand how you're feeling right now, i crave when stressed too.

    I think you're doing really well right now so keep up the good work. Don't be too strict on yourself though, perhaps you could have a small chocolate milkshake? Stay away of the McDonalds though, that is JUNK!

    Did you have a look at that link I posted in one of your previous posts? It's got some tips about food which act as a natural gastric band, worth looking at.

    Stick at it, the end goal will be worth it.

  4. They deliberately try to make fast-food as alluring and convenient as possible, but I agree with Charlotte -- it's junk.

    On the other hand, I don't believe in deprivation. We can eat anything as long as it's in moderation. If you crave McD's, indulge -- but just not too often. I find a small taste of something satisfies me and I can then go back to carrots and fruit.

    My worst craving is for salty chips like Doritos. I have a real hard time controlling myself with a bag of those devils...

  5. I don't have any kinda weird cravings but of course like you and everyone else, I love sinful stuff and they aren't good for the waistline. LOL. I've been craving for McD's spicy fried chicken during the last few weeks and I want it!!
